The device is sourced through Dell Outlet as a certified refurbished Dell Pro 14 and may have minor cosmetic signs of prior handling or use.
The package includes three years of Dell ProSupport, 24/7 technical assistance, and next-business-day onsite service after remote diagnosis when the issue qualifies.
Summit’s IT department will manage devices purchased through this program while they are covered under Summit’s support plan. Each laptop will be secured with an administrator password and configured primarily for school-related software and services.
Parents may request the administrator password from Summit IT. Students should not install non-school-related programs without permission from Summit’s IT Director. This helps prevent software conflicts, performance issues, security risks, and other problems that could interfere with academic use.
We strongly recommend that students carry the laptop in a quality backpack with a dedicated padded laptop compartment. Proper protection during daily transportation can significantly extend the life of the device.
Yes. Each laptop purchased through this program will include a GumDrop DropTech protective shell. Students may place stickers on the removable shell.
Lower-cost laptops may be appropriate for some students, but they often use slower processors, less memory, lower-quality components, and lighter construction. In a daily school environment, those limitations can lead to slower performance, more classroom frustration, and a greater likelihood that the device will need to be replaced sooner.
The Dell Pro 14 offers 16 GB of memory, solid-state storage, stronger build quality, and three years of Dell ProSupport, making it a better long-term option for regular academic use.
Yes. The Summit Laptop Purchase Program is optional. Families may purchase their own Windows 11 laptop from a local or online retailer, provided it meets Summit’s minimum BYOD requirements. Chromebooks and iPads do not meet the requirements for this program.
Review Summit’s laptop requirements at summit.school/technology.
Setup instructions for independently purchased devices are available at summit.school/computers.
Summit requires students to use the school-provided versions of Microsoft Office, Malwarebytes, LanSchool, and applicable electronic textbooks. Summit IT does not provide hardware or ongoing device support for laptops purchased outside the Summit Laptop Purchase Program. Families purchasing independently are encouraged to add an extended warranty.
Product availability, specifications, cosmetic condition, pricing, support eligibility, and delivery timing are subject to final Dell confirmation.
