New Tech in 2024

New Technology in 2024-2025

We're excited to introduce several new technologies this year at Summit, designed to enhance safety, support academic success, and streamline school operations. Below, you'll find brief descriptions of each tool and how they will benefit our school community. We look forward to partnering with you as we implement these exciting innovations.

  • RAVE Emergency Services

Safety is our top priority, so we have adopted Rave Emergency Services. This system allows us to quickly communicate with first responders in the event of an emergency. It is a powerful tool that ensures we can respond rapidly and effectively to any situation, keeping our students and staff safe. Every teacher has this app loaded on their phone. In the event of an emergency, they can notify 911 while at the same time alerting their coworkers and school administrators.

  • SECURLY | Classroom Monitoring & Filtering

As a school, we are beginning a 90-day preview of one of the top-rated classroom solutions on the market: Securly. This software solution will replace Lanschool, which we have used for eight years. It allows teachers to monitor classroom activities paired with intelligent filtering. This tool is a proactive measure to ensure our classrooms remain safe and focused environments for learning. Rest assured, this system respects privacy while providing an added layer of security to keep everyone safe. Like Lanschool, your student’s device will only be accessible to our teachers on campus and during school hours. This software is required for all students and will be installed in class by our IT department.

  • CLEVER | Single Sign On (SSO)

We are bringing in Clever to all grade levels this year.  Clever is a single sign-on platform that simplifies access to the numerous educational tools and resources our students use every day. With Clever, students can log in just once to access all of their learning applications, making it easier for them to focus on their studies rather than on remembering multiple passwords. • TurnItIn (Intermediate & High School)

We are excited to roll out TurnItIn for our intermediate and high school students. TurnItIn is the leading software universities and secondary schools use to limit plagiarism and provide AI detection. This is not a “gotcha” mechanism but a guide to help our students develop their writing skills and understand the importance of academic integrity. Turnitin will be used to provide constructive feedback and help students learn how to cite sources correctly and avoid unintentional plagiarism. Students will have the chance to review their own written work before submitting it for a grade.

  • MY ADA MATH

We're excited to introduce My Ada Math, a tool that aligns perfectly with our new math curriculum. This program offers personalized practice, adapting in real-time to meet each student's needs and reinforcing key concepts. By integrating My Ada Math, we're ensuring students stay engaged, motivated, and on track for success in math.

  • ACCELERATED READER (Elementary)

    Motivating Independent Reading

We are excited to announce our transition from the discontinued Reading Counts program to the innovative Accelerated Reader (AR) program! AR is designed to motivate students to read more by offering engaging quizzes, personalized book recommendations, and goal-setting features. With over 220,000 quizzes available, students can explore a wide range of books that match their interests and reading levels. This program not only helps students build stronger reading skills but also fosters a lifelong love for reading by celebrating their achievements and encouraging them to take ownership of their learning journey. We're confident that AR will be a powerful tool in creating a thriving reading culture within our school community. More information will be released to our elementary parents as the school year progresses.

  • PikMyKid (Elementary)

To make the school dismissal process more efficient and secure, we are introducing PikMyKid. This app will help streamline how students are picked up after school, ensuring a smooth, organized, and safe dismissal process. We believe this will significantly improve the experience for both parents and students. More details about this service is available on the Summit Mobile App.

  • Magic School

By introducing Magic School at Summit Christian Academy, we’re introducing AI tools to make learning even more exciting and safe for your child. These tools are designed specifically for education and will assist students with their schoolwork, offering extra help while keeping privacy and security a top priority. Teachers will also use AI to create better lessons and focus more on supporting students. We’ll offer training and guidance so that both students and teachers feel prepared and confident with these new technologies.

  • Adobe Express for Education

Adobe Express for Education is a user-friendly tool that allows educators and students to create graphics, videos, and web pages with ease. It offers a range of templates and design assets, supports real-time collaboration, and integrates with other Adobe tools. Its intuitive interface and educational resources make it ideal for both teaching and learning.

  • Canvas

Canvas isn't new to Summit, but it is central to everything we do. Canvas is our learning management system (LMS) and helps teachers create, manage, and deliver course content efficiently. It provides tools for assignments, grading, and communication, enhancing the learning experience for students while simplifying administrative tasks for teachers. Its user-friendly interface supports a range of educational activities, from class discussions to multimedia projects. (Login Instructions)
